Let the Sunshine was a part of the site-specific installation Sunshine. So far ... that I developed to Enter Artspace along with visual artist Marija Marcelionytė-Paliukė from Vilnius, Lithuania.

The work consists of silk, wool and cotton plant dyed in fern, tansy and horsetail.

The fabrics are hanging loosely over the open timber construction, embracing one when you walk into the space and moving quiet when passing.

By binding tightly around the white fabric at selected areas before dyeing, simple circle patterns are created in the tie-dye technique.

In Peru, 1500 years old examples have been found with small circles and lines. In the 60s and 70s became the tie-dye symbol of the hippie era's ideas of freedom and peace.

The large circles repeating on the fabrics have traces of the color 'moving' into the fabric. For me it visualize the rhythm of the breath, inhale and exhale.
